[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Stila as a brand has been through many changes over the years – when it belonged to make-up artist Jeannie Lobell all those years ago, it was fun and playful and brought milky glazes to dizzy heights of popularity. I wasn’t so keen on their glittery years but it looks like this season is bang on for the skinimalism trend of appreciating and showcasing the skin you have rather than covering it up completely.
I’ll start with the Tinted Moisturiser Skin Balm which is a skin care/make up hybrid in a balmy texture. I didn’t think I was going to like it or that the colour would be right for me but was wrong on both counts. You’ll like this if you need a bit more hydration than other tints offer but if you prefer a weightless formula, it’s not for you. Although it isn’t weightless, the balmy quality gives a bit of skin sheen and plenty of moisture. It’s fragrance free and suitable for sensitive skin. Ingredients are quite basic – castor seed oils, sunflower and safflower oils with Vitamins C and E while extracts include rice bran, camellia leaf and grapeseed – but it does the job nicely. There are 8 shades which probably isn’t enough to cover all tones – particularly at the deeper end. It’s £25 HERE.
Those pesky fibres get everywhere! I usually wipe down products with a microfibre cloth before photographing so when I see a stray fibre I’m so annoyed! I have to live with this one because the light is totally different now. Anyway, it’s the One Step Correct Brightening Powder which in theory will neutralise any sallowness and give an oil-control effect. I hate powder on my skin but if you need oil control you might as well have some brightening too! Because I so rarely use it, I’m not the best judge of powders so I’ll just leave it at that letting you know it’s out there. It’s £28.
Next up, new shades of Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in warm neutral mattes. Definitely not for me but if you love a fully pigmented matte, look no further – these are impactful. Shades are Promessa, Bellezza and Romanza (coming up in swatches). They’re £17 each HERE.
I did notice a bit of a back taste with them – it soon disappeared, but was noticeable at the outset. The colours are delicious though – I’d love them in gloss!
In the swatch, it’s Promessa, Romanza and Bellezza. They’re HERE.
While I’m here, since I started applying Tan Luxe again, my tone is warmed and I just look more well so I’ve been using these two non-stop. I posted about them last year and they were popular then. It’s Sunkissed Bronzer and Kitten Highlighter – they’re creamy, super-blendable and give very subtle warmth and glow that looks and feels like a lift in mood. They’re £19 each HERE, non affiliate HERE and money very well spent if you want to shake off the winter pallor. I have looked at several links and notice some shades are selling out (there are blush shades too) which I hope doesn’t mean they’re not being replenished.
